Lisbon is more than just the largest city in Portugal; it is the capital city of Portugal. Lisbon is located on the western side of the country on the side of the Atlantic coast where the river Tagus (Portuguese Tejo) flows into the Atlantic Ocean.

Places To Visit
When you visit Lisbon, it is necessary that you take a tour around the city. It is not everyday that you get to visit a foreign country that is why when you are in Lisbon you might want to check out these destination spots. If you are into art and antiques then give the National Art Museum (Museu Nacional de Arte Antiga). This museum boasts of a wide collection of paintings, sculptures, drawings, engravings, jewelleries, ceramics, textiles and furniture from the 12th to the 19th centuries. This museum exhibits European, African, and Oriental masterpieces. If you want to commune with nature then visiting one of the many botanical gardens in Lisbon is perfect for you. Ajuda Botanical Garden (Jardim Botânico da Ajuda) is the first botanical garden in Portugal. Built on 1768 the Ajuda Botanical Garden, houses plant species brought home by Portuguese explorers. Now, if you want a great view of the city paired with a touch of history then the Saint George’s Castle (Castelo de São Jorge) is the perfect place for you. This castle is the perfect demonstration of Lisbon’s history. Saint George’s Castle (Castelo de São Jorge) offers a panoramic view of Lisbon and the Tagus river. This castle also plays hosts to multimedia presentations of the city’s history.

Business Hours
To enjoy the different attractions in the city it is important that you go there on time. For the National Art Museum (Museu Nacional de Arte Antiga) it is open on Tuesdays from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Wednesday to Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. To get inside the museum you may need to pay a certain amount as admission so prepare your cash. Ajuda Botanical Garden (Jardim Botânico da Ajuda) is open everyday from 9:00am to 8:00 pm. On Wednesday however, the garden is closed. Saint George’s Castle (Castelo de São Jorge) is open everyday from Mondays to Sundays from 9:00 in the morning to 6:00 in the evening. It is important that you remember the visiting hours of each place so that you can allot enough time to enjoy each visit.
